Already considered in the past an exciting talent, first in the field of Hip Hop and then in the Techno and House scenes, Soul Button is the new project of a well-established forward thinking dj and producer.Born alongside the Berlin-based house label Steyoyoke, Soul Button is a key figure of the label who follows the same philosophy which places a primary focus on communication and the music itself, rather than on fashionable images and artist names. Thus, he prefers to remain anonymous and instead, he uses the Button as an attribute of himself to further underline the concept:“Each unbuttoned Button is a disclosed secret, a higher level of conscious intimacy. Each fastened Button is a hard barrier, an insurmountable obstacle.According to that, the Button becomes a symbol of communication.„ (quotation)In the world of music where the artist is considered a collector and a discoverer of sounds, Soul Button’s productions are widely influenced by various styles but most often contain a slamming house beat combined with a touch of soul to create a smooth groove ranging from soulful and melodic deep house to the freshest tech-house.In May of 2012, Soul Button made a strong debut on the Steyoyoke label releasing an energetic and driving 3 track affair entitled, ‘Shadows’. Just hours after it’s vinyl release, the EP flew to #5 in the Deep House charts where it remained weeks after.Though it’s been quite a busy year for Soul Button, the talented producer is showing no signs of slowing down. He continues to perfect his craft while working on numerous projects including a remix for Mercury as well as a highly antipicated remix for Fabo which will be released on Neurotraxx Recordings in the fall.
